Earlier this morning, Deanna Contreras of PG&E spoke with KHUM’s Cliff Berkowitz about the public safety power shutoff that is affecting most of northern California — including, of course, Humboldt.
Contreras confirmed that they’re looking at a three- to five-day outage at this point, and talked a little about the conditions that made the outage necessary (from the utility’s perspective) as well as the reasons why the power station at King Salmon could not be utilized to power coastal Humboldt County while the rest of the blackout area is under a red-flag wildfire warning.
