Edward C. Silva died suddenly in his home on August 20th, 2019. He was 61 years old.

Eddy was born in Fortuna to Lucas and Evelina Silva on July 30th, 1958. His mother Evelina died in 1961, and his father remarried a wonderful woman by the name of Germana who loved and raised Eddy, his brother Bert, and their sister Zoraida as her own.

Eddy was raised in Scotia, graduated from Fortuna High in 1976, and joined the US Navy right after high school. Eddy served his country that he loved during the Iran Crisis, participated in Desert Storm, and The War on Terror. He was highly decorated, and traveled the world in service to his country. While stationed in Japan, Eddy climbed the famous 12,500 foot Mount Fuji in one day!

After 20 years of service, Eddy retired from the Navy as a Petty Officer First Class. Eddy loved to build and fly radio controlled airplanes, he loved good stereos and music of all sorts, and he was a huge San Francisco 49er fan. Eddy also loved Ford Mustangs, and along with the help of his brother, Bert, he restored an original 1970 Boss 302.

He loved his mother, Germana, and would call her almost every night. He even took her to Thailand and Hong Kong twice to show her where he had traveled during his time in the Navy.

Eddy is survived by his brother Bert Silva, his wife Corinne, and by his sister Zoraida Silva, his mom, Germana Silva, and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was greatly loved and will be missed.

There will be a Memorial Service for Eddy Silva on September the 28th at The Journey Church, formerly known as Rio Dell Assembly of God, 95 Belleview Drive, Rio Dell, beginning at 11 a.m. Please be ready to share any stories or memories you might have about Eddy.

Eddy will be interred at Sunrise Cemetery.
