St. Bernard’s senior Justin Hagler showed just why he is a Division-I college prospect on Saturday.
Hagler has been in sensational form on both sides of the ball this season and a key reason the Crusaders are 5-0 and the last remaining undefeated team on the North Coast.
Last week, the Wyoming Cowboys extended a preferred walk-on roster spot to Hagler, a standout linebacker who is the Crusaders’ defensive leader.
But on Saturday, in a 47-27 win at Ferndale, Hagler stepped up again on the offensive side of the ball, taking the initiative after standout senior receiver Lane Thrap was forced from the game through injury.
Two plays in particular stood out.
The first was a 50-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Will Omey that saw the senior break loose up the middle on his way to the end zone.
The second was even more impressive (see video), as Hagler bounced off multiple tacklers on a 19-yard gain to set up Omey’s fourth TD run of the day a couple of plays later.
