Bonnie Archer, mother and grandmother affectionately known as “Mammy,” was born Sept. 26, 1934 to Zene and Wilma Kirkendoll in Clinton, Arkansas.

Mammy went to be with the Lord on Tuesday Sept. 17, 2019. She passed peacefully at home with her children by her side.

Bonnie met Clyde Archer, the love of her life, in 1951. Bonnie and Clyde (true names) borrowed five bucks and were married December 22, 1951. Bonnie and Clyde were married for 63 years. They moved to Greenville, California in 1954.

Seeking new adventure, they moved to BullCreek, Rockefeller Park in 1958. Along the way they moved to Weott in 1962 and eventually settled in Fortuna in 1966 where they bought their home. They lived there together for the next 48 years until Clyde’s passing in 2014.

Bonnie and Clyde had a love that inspired many. Through life they endured many hardships but their love never changed. Bonnie lived in the family home for two more years then moved to Eureka with her daughter Sandy and her son-in-law Dave.

Mammy was an amazing woman. In the ‘60s she decided to start a career as a nurse. She drove the old highway from Weott to Eureka each day to school where she studied to get her degree as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She later worked at Redwood Memorial Hospital in Fortuna for the next 25 years. Then retired to stay home with her love Clyde.

Bonnie was a woman full of life, love and sassiness which she shared with everyone she knew. Bonnie loved her family, friends and her extended church family. She always brought her big love and character to all she did. She loved her crafts, gardening, canning and volunteer work.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Zene and Wilma Kirkendoll.
