Submitted photo – The Arcata girls continued to lead the way in H-DNL golf at Baywood on Thursday.

McKinleyville’s Phoebe Sundberg pushed Arcata’s Avary Henry all the way in girls golf on Thursday, but the latter held on for a one-stroke lead to stretch her advantage in the season standings.

The Arcata standout has posted the best round or tied for the best round in all four H-DNL events this month, shooting an 86 at Baywood on Thursday, one stroke better than the Mack senior.

For the season, Henry now leads Sundberg by nine strokes with just one round remaining next Thursday at Eureka.

Phoebe’s younger sister Isabella was third best on the day at Baywood, shooting a 92, followed by Arcata’s Kate Plumley with a 105.

Arcata’s Mari Pepper and Fortuna’s Gracie Betts each shot a 107, followed by Arcata’s Brook Bisgrove with a 108.

Marissa Highley paced Eureka with a 111.

The Tigers showcased their depth once again with a comfortable win in the team competition, stretching their lead on the season to almost 200 strokes over McKinleyville.

The Fortuna girls remain third on the season, ahead of Eureka in fourth.
