Armed Domestic Violence Suspect Flees From Police; Two Officers Sustain Minor Injuries During Arrest, EPD Says
From the Eureka Police Department:
On
September 26, 2019 at about 2:30 pm, Officers of the Eureka Police
Department responded to a reported domestic violence incident that
had just occurred.
Cry.
As
a result of the investigation, probable cause was developed for the
arrest of Shelton Dewayne Cry (31 years old of Eureka). Information
was obtained that Cry was possibly in possession of a firearm and
that he may be at a residence at the 700 block of W. Harris Street in
Eureka. Officers responded to that location in an attempt to take Cry
into custody.
Upon
arrival, officers located Cry in the front yard of the location. When
officers attempted to contact Cry, he tried to flee. A struggle
ensued and while officers attempted to pull Cry’s hand out from his
waist area, it was discovered that Cry had a firearm concealed in the
front waistband of his pants. Officers were eventually able to place
Cry in handcuffs without further incident. He was taken into custody
for domestic battery, carrying a concealed firearm, being a felon in
possession of a firearm, and being a felon in possession of
ammunition.
Cry
was not injured during the altercation, but two officers sustained
minor injuries that did not require treatment.
Cry
was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and is
being held on $50,000.00 bail.
This
