Elsie Houseworth Barrote passed away Sept. 19, 2019. She had celebrated her 94th birthday on Sept. 15.

Elsie lived a long, full life. She loved her family dearly and they loved her. When talking to friends and family, we all remember how she loved to cook and she was awesome at it! She loved having large groups of friends and family over to watch them enjoy themselves eating. Her homemade raviolis, crab stuffed surf fish, fish stew, prawns, and Kahlua cake are just a few of her specialties.

Elsie grew up in Ohio, but lived the majority of her adult life in Rio Dell. where she married the love of her life, Art “Tootie” Barrote. They had three children: Larry, JoAnne, and Aldan.

Elsie lost Art in 1973. She never got over that tragedy.

Elsie’s heart broke once again in 2015 when JoAnne passed away. Elsie was living with JoAnne at the time. She then moved in with Larry in Fortuna. The past few years she was a resident of Fortuna Rehab and Wellness Center, where the staff took good care of her. Thanks to all of you that made her comfortable in her last days.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, husband Art, daughter JoAnne and son-in-law Dean and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sons Larry and Aldan (wife Rachel), daughter-in-law Val, Grandsons Brandon (Ageana), Colby (Dana) and Karsten (Marissa). Great Grandsons: Blayne and Brooks, Kallen, Davin and Jaren.

Per Elsie’s request, there will be no services.

RIP Elsie! We all love and miss you!!
