Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – The Hoopa Warriors will travel to Etna on Friday night.

After three local prep football teams had a bye in their schedule last weekend, all nine will be in action this coming weekend, including seven of them on Friday night.

McKinleyville, South Fork and Del Norte will each host under the lights, while Eureka, Fortuna, Hoopa and Ferndale all play on the road.

The Loggers (0-2) will make their first road trip of the season, traveling to Foothill (0-1), while the Huskies (0-2) will play away from home for the third consecutive weekend, heading south to Lake County to play Kelseyville (1-1).

Ferndale (0-1) will play at Fall River (1-0), while Hoopa (0-1) will head to Etna (1-0), each looking for a first win.

The Redwood Bowl continues to be a busy spot for local high school football, with McKinleyville (0-2) hosting Fort Bragg (0-0) at the HSU facility while work construction continues on the Panthers’ field, while South Fork (0-1) will welcome Round Valley (0-1) to Miranda.

And rounding out a bust night of action for local programs, Del Norte (2-0) will look to continue its fast start to the season when La Salle (0-0) comes to Crescent City.

On Saturday, two more local teams will be in action, when St. Bernard’s hosts Arcata at Crusader Field.

The Crusaders (2-0) have won 29 straight games against Little 4 opposition, while the Tigers (0-1) will be eager to prove they belong back in the Big 4 by defeating a Big 4 team.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
