The Eureka girls got their season off to a winning start in tennis on Saturday, running out to a 5-2 victory over McKinleyville.

Lauren Albertini and Jem Mia won their singles matches for the Loggers, as well as teaming up to get the better of McKinleyville’s Kalissa Schuchard and Alli McCray at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-1.

Alvertini defeated Schuchard 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, while Mia defeated McCray 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

McKinleyville’s Hannah Jacobs won her matchup against Kyra Dart at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, and teamed up with Corinna Thiesfeld to win at No. 2 doubles.

At No. 4 singles Eureka’s Karlie Powell defeated Thiesfeld, 6-3, 4-6, 6-6 (7-5).

The Loggers won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
