Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – The St. Bernard’s players were all smiles after Saturday’s win, including Lane Thrap (23).

Lane Thrap scored five touchdowns in Saturday’s 49-8 win over Arcata at Crusader Field, giving him a remarkable 11 total just three games into the new season.

It helps of course when you’re playing on a team as dynamic as the Crusaders are right now, and especially when you have a quarterback of the quality of Will Omey.

The two seniors have already combined for 10 TD passes, including four in Saturday’s win.

Thrap added a late interception on defense that he returned 80 yards to the end zone, capping a truly remarkable day at the office.

“I don’t know that I’ve seen a start to a season like this,” St. Bernard’s head coach Matt Tomlin said of Thrap. “11 touchdowns in three games, he was outstanding today.”

Omey, who also ran in for two touchdowns against the Tigers, now has 13 TD passes on the season.
