Ralph (Buzzy) Gordon Nichols Jr.
September 21, 1952-2020 

Born in Stafford, Kansas.

Our Eveready Bunny has run down. Buzzy went home on March 30, 2020. He was a resident at St. Luke Rehabilitation Center in  Fortuna when he passed. He always had a smile on his face for the staff and never complained.

At 20 years young, Buzzy had a promising career as a machinist which ended when he was in a tragic accident that decided his fate differently.

A few months after his 21st birthday he woke from a six-month coma. From that day forward he was determined to live the life he loved, riding dirt bikes on the mountain, fishing the Eel River during a salmon run, hunting, cruising with his friends eyeballing the girls.

But again, fate determined his life and Buzzy was bound to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Still, he strove to be self-sufficient, to live his life as best he could independently.

His favorite times were holidays when all the family gathered together. He loved his family and always looked forward to their visits.

Our parents, Ralph and Katherine Nichols, and our sister, Sharon Carney-Nichols, with their arms open wide guided him on his journey to meet the Lord.

Buzzy leaves behind his children, Anicia Peppas of Fortuna and Ryan Nichols of Gilbert, Arizona.

Buzzy will be missed by his sisters, Marjorie Evans of Rio Dell, California, Kathy Day of Wilhoit, Arizona, Rose Ann Gallagher of Derby, Kansas and Elma Schulz (Earle) of Marsing, Idaho. Brothers, Dick Scott (Loretta) of Hidden Valley Lake, California, and Howard Scott (Denise) of Eugene, Oregon.

Also Buzzy will be greatly missed by his nephew Christopher Day (Jennifer) of Scotia, who was more like a son to Buzz. Shirley Lancaster of Eureka, a friend but more like a sister, and Shirley Scott of Auburn, California.

There are too many special nieces and nephews to name, just know that each one of you held a special place in his sweet tender heart.

A special thank you to his honorary niece Kayla Gibbins. You are an angel sent from God and our gratitude is boundless for your presence when couldn’t be there. You made a difference in his life. 

Buzzy you are unfettered now. The chains that bound you have fallen to the floor.  You are free! Run, jump, climb, swim, eat a steak, and savor some watermelon! Ride the wind Buzzy!

Memorial service will be held in Middletown, California at a later date.
