From the office of Rep. Jared Huffman:
Today, Representative Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, announced that federal funding from the CARES Act was awarded to California North Coast airports impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. California received more than $1 billion of the $9.1 billion congressionally directed funding for thousands of airports nationwide to ensure financial support under current travel restrictions and preparation for a smooth transition back to full capacity.
“This essential infusion of federal funding for airports negotiated by Democrats in the CARES Act will help support the hard-hit travel industry,” said Rep. Huffman, “In this pandemic, industries and individuals across the nation have had to make sacrifices to help keep their employees, customers, and families safe. The airports across the North Bay and North Coast are directly impacted by unprecedented travel restrictions and stay at home orders while still providing for the continued work of essential employees. This CARES Act funding is a vital lifeline but it will only go so far, and Congress will continue prioritizing relief for all those who need it, including those who work in the travel industry.”
The funding for airports serving California’s Second Congressional District has been awarded as follows:
