Peggy Ann Tappe passed away in her sleep at her home in Fortuna on April 6. She was 64 years old.
Peggy was born and raised in San Diego. Her parents were Maynard and Mary Tappe. She had many fond memories of growing up and living there which she enjoyed reminiscing about, especially times she spent with her father and older brother Ronnie. She loved the warm weather, the beach and the ocean. To her it was the perfect place to live.
When Peggy was only 20 she decided she wanted to visit Europe, so she went there by herself and spent a year there traveling through England, Spain, France, Germany and many other countries.
Peggy was a very loving and dedicated mother to two beautiful daughters who meant the world to her. She had many admirable qualities, she was always cheerful and personable to people, she was a good communicator, a trait that served her well in her career as a nurse. She was very intelligent, strong-willed, responsible, independent and very beautiful.
Everywhere we went she would she would be, without exaggerating, the prettiest girl there 90% of the time. Being with her made a man fell 10 feet tall. It was truly love at first sight for When my own mother became ill and I was tasked to moved her into my own home to take care of her, Peggy was right there with me to help. She was like an angel sent from heaven above. I could not have done this without her.
She followed her parents to Humboldt County about a year after they moved to the Fortuna/ Hydesville area about 1996-7. Peggy decided she wanted to further her career in the medical field so she enrolled in the Registered Nursing program at the College of the Redwoods which she completed in half the normal time while she maintained a 4.0 grade average in addition to being a single mother and working in a doctor’s office.
Peggy was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother Ronnie and an older sister Barbara . She is survived by her two daughters, Angela Rowan and Andrea Tobar/Lorentz and 5 grandchildren Carrie, Mary, Ryan, Landis and Danielle. Her passing came as an unexpected surprise but she was alert and clear minded to the end and for that we are grateful and in knowing she didn’t have to suffer from a long, protracted illness. Peggy will remain in our hearts forever. No services are planned due to the current flu virus complications.
