The suspect in a shooting investigation this morning in Carlotta has been taken into custody.
On April 24, 2020, at about 7:50 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Fox Creek Road in Carlotta for the report of a gunshot victim.
Emergency responders arrived on scene and located a 43-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
Upon further investigation, deputies learned that the victim and the suspect, 30-year-old Neville Steen-Clark, had been involved in a neighbor dispute. During that dispute, Steen-Clark reportedly sprayed the victim with bear mace and then later shot him multiple times with a firearm.
Steen-Clark was located on scene and taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of attempted murder (PC 664/187(a)), assault with a firearm on a person (PC245(a)(2)) and use of tear gas (PC 22810(g)). His bail is set at $500,000.
