Donna Ilene Meng
07/28/1935-08/12/2020

Donna was born on July 28, 1935 in Ukiah, California to her parents Loran and Millie DeVee.

Donna grew up in Garberville and went to South Fork High School and graduated in 1954. She attended San Francisco State for a short time until her mother passed away, which she then moved back home to help her father.

Donna worked at Redway Elementary and then later became a dispatcher for the California Highway Patrol before she moved to Eureka in 1958, and became a legal secretary, which she worked as for 43 years.

In 1958 she also met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Gordon Meng, which she then married in 1959. In 1960 they had their first son, Curt Meng, and in 1964, they welcomed their second son Mark Meng. She belonged to the Eastern Stars for 66 years. Donna enjoyed life doing the things she loved. One of her favorite things was her property up at Ruth Lake, where she enjoyed her gardening, skiing, fishing, hunting, and creating her beautiful oil paintings. She cherished her time with family, and her many Labrador Retrievers. Donna and her husband Bob enjoyed traveling the United States in their RV. They spent a good amount of time in Florence, Arizona where they met new life-long friends, until Donna suffered a stroke in 2018.

Donna passed away August 12, 2020 surrounded by her whole family.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert “Bob” Meng, her first son Curt and wife Katha Meng, second son Mark and wife Debbie Meng, granddaughter Jennifer Meng and long-time spouse Cliff Kaufman, grandson Jarrett Meng and girlfriend Kayla Patton, grandson Wyatt Meng and fiancé Kelsey Mikkelsen, and great-grandchildren Dylan, Lauren and Nataya.

There will be a private service for family only at this time. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.

“Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
