Bette Jeanne (Neilson) Schuessler peacefully went home Wednesday August 19, 2020.
She was born April 9, 1927, in Kingman, Arizona. Mom was married to Dad (Frank Schuessler) just shy of 62 years. They were married July 18, 1948. She has two daughters, Susan Genell Schuessler and Sandy (Schuessler) Cox.
“Grandma Bette” was blessed with six beautiful grandchildren. Her second grandchild shared her birth date, which she thought was the best birthday present ever. “Great Grandma Bette” was blessed as well with nine beautiful great grandchildren.
Mom worked outside of the home off and on in a variety of businesses. Her favorite place was California Lutheran College in Thousand Oaks, where she was secretary to the Athletic Director. Mom loved the work, the involvement and interacting with coaches and athletes. A highlight each summer was working alongside of Coach Tom Landry, staff and athletes of the NFL Dallas Cowboys, which had their summer practices at the college. Mom loved family, cooking, baking, sewing, traveling with and working alongside of Dad. She loved the music of the “Big Band” and “Rat Pack.” She always had a song. Mom loved entertaining as well and was an amazing hostess.
The last three years Mom has resided at Humboldt House Lodge in Eureka. The staff treated her with kindness and dignity until God called her home. Mom and Dad are now safe and well with their Lord and Savior Jesus.
