California Highway Patrol press release:

On Aug. 1, 2020 at approximately 12:45 a.m., California Highway Patrol Humboldt Dispatch Center received a call from a resident about a crash on Oceanview Drive north of Peregrine Lane. CHP officers from Crescent city responded from the CHP area office. 

It was determined the vehicle I’ve been traveling northbound on Oceanview Drive. The involved vehicle left the roadway collided into a mailbox before traveling down the embankment. The involved vehicle overturn multiple times and came to rest on his left side facing in a westerly direction blocking the southbound traffic lane of Oceanview Drive. During the crash, the driver was ejected from the vehicle. The driver succumb to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. Oceanview Drive was completely closed for approximately three hours due to the incident. This crash is still under investigation.
