Eureka Police Department press release:

On February 5, 2020, at about 9:00 a.m., Detectives with the Eureka Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Team (POP) executed a search warrant for suspicion of narcotic sales at an apartment on the 100 block of West Hawthorne Street.

Brett Demassey (36 of Eureka) and Frank Sandoval (41 of Eureka) were on scene and detained during the search. Sandoval was actively injecting heroin when Detectives entered the apartment. During the search, detectives located 40 grams of heroin, 1 gram of methamphetamine, and paraphernalia. A large amount of cash was seized for asset forfeiture as proceeds of drug sales.

Demassey and Sandoval were arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Demassey was booked for possession of heroin for sales, maintaining a drug house, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, and a misdemeanor no bail warrant for DUI. Sandoval was arrested for possession of a concealed dirk or dagger and possession of heroin.
