UPDATE, 11:57 a.m., 1/15: The latest from Caltrans:

SR 96 Slide Area - 4 miles west of Happy Camp is OPEN to one way traffic control. Expect delays of at least 20 minutes. Public Information will update if situation changes

From Caltrans:

Caltrans Contractor Roger Brown Construction determined the slide on SR96, approximately 4 miles west of Happy Camp is not suited for traffic to safely pass through the area.

THE ROAD WAS CLOSED approximately at 12:30pm on 01/13/20.

Basically, the slide is active due to current weather conditions. There is a weather advisory for the area through tomorrow and the current weather forecast shows 65% chance of rain on Wednesday. Again, the slide is at the moment very active. We’ll update when conditions change. There is not ETO at this time.
