Eureka Teen Suspected of Trafficking Heroin and Meth
Humboldt County Drug Task Force press release:
On January 14th, 2020, special agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF), with the
assistance of the Eureka Police Department Problem Oriented Police (POP) team, served search warrants
at multiple locations in Eureka. Through their multi-week investigation, HCDTF agents learned that
Giovani Enrique Ramirez (age 18) is associated with a Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO) operating
in Humboldt County.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., agents located Ramirez in the 1300 block of 10th Street, Eureka. Upon
contact, Ramirez was detained without incident. Agents searched Ramirez and his vehicle pursuant to a
search warrant and discovered nearly 1.5 pounds of suspected heroin, 2 ounces of suspected
methamphetamine, and 11 grams of suspected cocaine. These items were located in a hidden
compartment within the dash of Ramirez’s vehicle. In addition, agents located digital scales and nearly
$4,000 in U.S. currency that was seized pending asset forfeiture proceedings.
Agents and POP officers then served a search warrant at Ramirez’s residence located in the 1800 block of
3 rd Street, Eureka, and a DTO associated residence located in the 2000 block of A Street, Eureka. Agents
located an additional ounce of suspected heroin and other items associated with narcotics sales.
Ramirez was subsequently placed under arrest and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional
Facility for possession and transportation of controlled substances and possession of a false
compartment within a vehicle.
