Eureka police and local paramedics were called to the 1600 block of C Street, at the corner of Wabash, last night after receiving a report that a 60-year-old woman had been stabbed in the neck.
There they arrested Randi Elizabeth Barton, a 31-year-old resident of a transitional living facility where both the victim and the suspect had been staying.
According to Brittany Powell, spokesperson for the Eureka Police Department, Barton was taken into custody without incident. The victim was alert and coherent throughout the investigation. The weapon used in the stabbing, according to Powell, was a kitchen knife.
The victim received minor to moderate injuries, according to Powell, and was transported to the hospital via ambulance.
