Trinity County Sheriff’s Office press release: 

On July 16, 2020 at approximately 10:00 pm, the Trinity County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center was advised of a shooting which had occurred in the area of Kettenpom.

Deputies and medical personnel were dispatched to the area. Upon arrival, they located a male with a gunshot wound to his arm. A second male victim was located hours later, with a gunshot wound to his leg. Both victims were transported to local area hospitals and remain in stable condition.

Deputies cleared the scene of the incident and later executed a Search Warrant on the property in order to obtain evidence. Numerous items were discovered during the search which will likely yield DNA evidence.

The only presently known information thus far is that there were three to four suspects, all of which had been wearing black clothing with black masks and bandanas covering their faces. All were believed to be armed with rifles. One of the victims as well as a witness, indicated that the suspects spoke Spanish. No suspect vehicle information is known.

No items were stolen during the incident and it appears to have been an act committed for reasons other than theft.
