Two Women Carjacked in Eureka at Gunpoint; At-Large Suspect Considered Armed and Dangerous
Eureka Police Department press release:
On July 22, 2020, at about 8:37 p.m., an officer of the Eureka Police Department
was contacted by a woman who wished to report that she had just been
carjacked. The victim reported to the officer that she and a friend had been
carjacked at gunpoint, while they were sitting in her parked vehicle at the 2100
block of Spring Street. The victim identified the suspect as Mario Marcel Garcia
(40 of Eureka).
The victim said Garcia forced his way into the driver seat of her vehicle at
gunpoint, assaulting both her and her friend. Garcia then drove both females
several blocks against their will and made multiple threats to kill them. The

attention of the police for help.
Responding officers began searching the area and located the stolen vehicle and
the friend in an alley near the 3300 block of E Street. The friend was unharmed
and reported that Garcia fled on foot prior to officer’s arrival. Officers continued to
extensively search the area but were unable to locate Garcia.
The Eureka Police Department is actively seeking to locate Garcia for the
carjacking, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, criminal threats,
domestic violence, probation violation, and vehicle theft violations.
Garcia should be considered armed and dangerous.
