After an impressive 5-0 start to his professional career, Arcata MMA fighter Cass Bell suffered his first loss on Friday to the now 14-1 Raufeon Stots at Bellator 242 in Connecticut.
The more experienced Stots got the better of Bell for a majority of the fight with a relentless wrestling game that seemed to wear Bell out.
Stots finished the fight with 3 minutes and 37 seconds left in the third round, when he forced Bell to tap by using a rear-naked choke submission.
“I got to do what I love and I am so happy I was able to do it,” Bell shared on social media after the fight. “Thank you all for all your support, tonight didn’t go as planned, but thats ok. In this time of COVID we all face different challenges, part of mine was being in California where we were forced to be closed down. I love to fight, so there was no way I was going to turn down this opportunity. I’m disappointed that I wasn’t at the top of my game, but I’m so thrilled I got the opportunity. I’ll be back, next time with a full camp. I appreciate the love and support, next time I get in the cage, I’m getting that W.”
