Clarence “Clancy” Adams was born October 21, 1929 in San Luis Obispo and passed away March 4, 2020, at his home in Ferndale, surrounded by his family, at the age of 90 years.

Clancy enlisted in the US Navy in 1947, serving four years on the U.S.S. St. Paul. He then worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a switchman. In 1962, Clancy joined the California Highway Patrol, where he served as an officer for 11 years. After retiring from the CHP, he purchased a dump truck and opened Clancy Adams Trucking.

After retiring in 1982, due to losing his eyesight, Clancy enjoyed traveling with Evelyn, including many trips in their motorhome. You could always find him working on projects in his woodshop or see him riding his bicycle around the town of Ferndale, stopping to visit people on the street. Clancy was a member of Ferndale Rotary, Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department, VFW of Ferndale and the Ferndale Lions Club. Every afternoon Clancy would meet friends uptown for the 4:00 Coffee Group and enjoy weekly visits with the Wednesday Night Pizza Group.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Evelyn, sons Richard (Jackie), Martin (Margaret), Paul, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, numerous special neighbors and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his father Cecile Adams, mother Cecyle Johnson, sister Ruth Adams, brother Donald Adams and daughter-in-law Annette Adams.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 14, at the Ferndale Catholic Assumption Church. After the service, please join the family at the Ferndale Cemetery for Military Funeral Honors with a reception following at the Ferndale Veteran’s Building.

Our family would like to say a special thank you to the caregivers from Agape Home Care, Eureka VA Outpatient Clinic, Dr. Dennis, Robbin Samuelson and Hospice of Humboldt.

Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department.
