Arcata Police Department press release: 

On Thursday March 12th, 2020, at approximately 8:20 PM, the Arcata Police Department received a call of a shooting that had just occurred in the 2900 block of Mack Road.

Officers responded to the area and located a 25 year old man that had suffered a gunshot wound to the arm. It was quickly determined the suspect was no longer in the area.

The victim relayed to investigators, a subject had come to his door and a dispute ensued. The suspect produced a handgun and fired one shot at the victim, striking him in the arm. The suspect then entered a light colored hatchback vehicle, possible a Subaru, and fled the area.

The victim was transported to the Mad River Community Hospital where he was treated and released.

The suspect is described as a white male adult in his later thirties, heavy build with light colored hair, between 5‘7” and 5‘9” tall.
