The love of my life of 28 years passed away Sunday morning — Walter Mooney, born May 20, 1968 in Eureka. His big heart just gave out.

In 1983 I saw this boy get off the bus. I asked a girl, “Who is that?” She said, “Walter Mooney, he’s in my English class,” and that was it. I followed him everywhere. For nine years. We were just friends.

Our lives changed in 1992. He treated me with love — a good partner. We knew each other well. We were tight.

He died in my arms with his son right there. Walter is now with his mom, whom he loved dearly.

He was the youngest of seven kids.

He is survived by Julia Nunes, son Treygan, stepdaughter Rochelle Hawk, her husband Kane, his granddaughter Maisie Mooney and her mom, Kelsey Davy.
