Richard B. Mercurio passed away unexpectedly in Eureka. He was born in Belleville, Illinois on April 3, 1952.

He was a man with many talents. He loved making enough spaghetti sauce to give to family and friends. He fished all over Humboldt County over the last 30-plus years. He had a knack for making a lot of MacGyver things, and enjoyed reading.

He is survived by his only daughter, Samantha Pingel (Evan); his only granddaughter, Sloane, born in January 2020; his sisters, Cheryl Mercurio and Cathy Brown; brother, David Mercurio; nephew Brandon Langston (who also was a fishing buddy since he was a child) and his son Micah; niece Jennifer Herndon (Matt) and daughters Vivienne, Sasha, Molly, Madison and son Ethan; niece Rebecca (Jason) Childress and daughters Alexandra and Arianna; niece Andria (Jan); niece Rachel Russell her daughter Serena her son Jaxson; his close friends Jim McVickers, Bill Russell and his fishing buddy, Frank Moffet.

Preceded by mother Rosalie Mercurio, father Richard J. Mercurio, nephews Joe and Matt Mercurio, niece Rebecca Mercurio.
