Arcata Police Department press release:
The Arcata Police Department (APD) requests the public’s assistance in keeping minors safe by not providing them with alcohol.
On Saturday March 14, 2020, APD will participate in a statewide Shoulder Tap Operation sponsored by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). The Decoy Shoulder Tap Program is an enforcement program used to deter the furnishing of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21. A minor decoy, under the direct supervision of law enforcement, solicits adults outside of ABC licensed establishments to purchase alcohol for them. Persons observed furnishing alcohol to the decoy can be physically arrested or cited for a misdemeanor violation of California Business and Professions Code section 25658(a).
Over sixty law-enforcement agencies throughout the state will be participating in this event.
