John Paul Collings was born in Princeton, Missouri on December 16, 1934, to John and Mary Collings and passed away on May 1, 2020, at the age of 85.

Paul moved to Humboldt County and worked in the lumber industry to start his career. Eventually he got a job with the City of Fortuna and worked there for 35 years. He married Catherine Giurlani on November 2, 1957, and enjoyed many happy times.

The most important thing to Paul was his family. You could always count on him being in the stands for all his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting or special events. Being at Ruth Lake with his family was one of his greatest joys.

After retirement he and Catherine spent most of the summer there camping and boating.

He is survived by Catherine, his wife of 62 years; his four children, Randy (Liz) Collings, Dan (Kathy) Collings, Julie (John) Matteucci, Colleen (Rich) Robertson; his grandchildren, Misty Collings, Cameron (Jonel) Matteucci, Alexandra Matteucci, Connor Boyer, Cole (Lupita) Collings, Natisha Baird, Michael (Crystal) Belmont, Jimmy Collings, Chloe Collings, Richie Robertson, Raemi Robertson and Ryan Robertson; his great grandchildren, Calvin Matteucci, Chanel Baird, Shianne Baird, Bodhi Belmont, Colette Belmont, Madilyn Roberts, Paityn Bowen and Murphie Bowen. Paul will be missed by many people to numerous to name.

A celebration of life will take place at Ruth Lake when conditions allow.
