Comedians Joe Rogan and Alonzo Bodden discuss Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal’s response to Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Famed comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan gave a shoutout to Humboldt County during his latest podcast on Friday.

Rogan, who was discussing the statewide beach closures proposed by Governor Newsom last week, praised Humboldt Sheriff William Honsal for his refusal to enforce any local closures.

“Officials from other parts of California have spoken out against a blanket beach ban in California,” Rogan said, quoting a CNBC article while interjecting his own comments. “Sheriff William Honsal, who oversees Humboldt County (Holla!) in the northern part of the state (where they get high as fuck) said that he strongly opposes the order and indicated in a tweet that he would not enforce it.”

Rogan continued on by reading a statement from Sheriff Honsal’s Twitter account: “If an order is issued that I believe violates our constitutional rights, I will not enforce it. (Good for you, sheriff),” Rogan added.

Honsal reposted the podcast segment to his Instagram account today, thanking Rogan for his support.

“[Joe Rogan], thanks for the support,” Honsal wrote on Instagram. “My buddy was listening to the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and heard Joe give us a shoutout for opposing the statewide beach closure.πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ˜ŽπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ”
