From the Eureka Police Department:

On November 2, 2020, at about 11:30 a.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department (EPD) responded to the area of J and 3rd Streets for the report of man down on the sidewalk with severe bleeding around the face.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 48-year-old male with significant injuries. Humboldt Bay Fire and City Ambulance responded and transported the male to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. This case is being investigated as a homicide. No suspects have been arrested at this time. Detectives are looking to speak to anyone who may have video surveillance or may have seen anything suspicious on November 2, 2020 around 11:30 a.m. It appears the incident occurred at the southeast corner of 3 rd and J streets near a fenced off construction site. Based on nearby surveillance, there was foot and vehicle traffic in the area at the time.
