If you happen to glance lots of smoke rising from somewhere near McKinleyville today, it is likely not cause for alarm. Green Diamond explains in the press blurb below:

Green Diamond is planning to conduct fuel hazard reduction burning this afternoon in the  lower Little River drainage north of McKinleyville and east of Moonstone beach.  The prescribed burning will commence around 2:00 today  and should be completed by early evening.
