Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On October 8, 2020 at about 2:12 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 23,000 block of Bald Hills Road for the report of shots fired at a commercial cannabis farm.
Deputies arrived on scene and learned that the victim, a security guard for the farm, was patrolling the property when he reportedly heard two to three unknown suspects moving in the brush. The victim reportedly called out to the suspects, who then began to shoot at the victim. The victim reportedly returned fire, shooting towards the suspects, and then called for help. A second security guard reportedly joined the victim to provide assistance, at which time more shots were fired between the suspects and the security guards. No known injuries were sustained during this exchange.
Deputies searched the property and surrounding areas but were unable to locate the suspects.
