Carol
Huddleston, 75, stepped into her heavenly home on September 1, 2020
after battling with dementia and other physical ailments.
Carol
was born on August 27, 1945 in Eureka to her parents, Earl
and Marguerite Butler. She was a lifelong resident of Humboldt
County except for a brief period when she lived in Morton, Washington
after marrying her husband, Gary.
Carol
worked at South Bay Elementary School as a library clerk and also
playground supervisor and eventually transferred to Pine Hill
Elementary School to become their librarian until her retirement in
2006.
Carol
was a member of the Eureka First Church of the Nazarene and attended
faithfully until her health began to keep her from going to church.
She played the piano there on occasion and many years ago sang in the
choir until it was disbanded. She loved to sing and created a trio
with her daughters Cindra and Conna, singing many specials in church
over the years and for Christmas Eve services. In her younger years,
she was involved with Child Evangelism Fellowship and taught “Good
News Clubs” with her mother for the neighborhood children and led
many of them to the Lord.
Carol
married Gary in October 1963 and together they had 3 children:
Cindra Huddleston, Conna Rodrigues, and Gerald “Scott”
Huddleston. She and Gary were also foster parents to many children
for several years. She waited a long time to be a grandma and was
thrilled when Bryan and Michael were born, and Melody, Joshua, Sarah,
Daniel, Rachel and Jenica became part of the family via adoption.
Carol
loved to travel. She enjoyed a Gaither Homecoming Friends Cruise to
Alaska with her husband, Gary. She also traveled to China with her
daughter Cindra as she adopted Melody and Vietnam when Cindra adopted
Jenica. She also traveled to China with her daughter, Conna and
son-in-law, Paul as they adopted their daughter Rachel. She was
also excited to travel to Japan to visit her son, Scott,
daughter-in-law Dana and her grandsons when they were stationed
there.
Carol
is survived by her daughter, Cindra Huddleston; her son, Scott
Huddleston and his wife, Dana and her loved grandchildren: Bryan
Huddleston and his wife Brenica, Melody Collver, Michael Huddleston,
Joshua Rodrigues, Sarah Rodrigues, Daniel Rodrigues, Rachel
Rodrigues, and Jenica Huddleston. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Earl and Marguerite Butler; her beloved husband, Gary
Huddleston; and her sweet daughter, Conna Rodrigues.
Carol will be buried at Ocean View Cemetery on September 15, 2020 with her immediate family in attendance. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the Conna Rodrigues Scholarship Fund at Redwood Christian School, your favorite charity, or to North Coast Dance’s scholarship fund, she loved watching her granddaughters, Melody and Jenica dance with the company, especially in NCD’s yearly production of “The Nutcracker.”
