Law enforcement has responded to Fischer Avenue in McKinleyville to the scene of a potential hostage situation involving an armed man who has reportedly barricaded himself and another individual inside an apartment.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office made the following announcement on Facebook:

#HappeningNow HCSO SWAT and the Crisis Negotiation Team are responding to 1600 block of Fischer Avenue in McKinleyville for a possible hostage situation with an armed suspect. A Humboldt Alert has been sent to residents in the area asking them to stay inside. PLEASE AVOID THE AREA while law enforcement works.
