September 13, 1948 –
September 12, 2020
Sharon was born in Scotia to James and Esther (Baker) Knight and spent her childhood in Bull Creek. She graduated from Fortuna High School in 1966 and her family moved to Arcata that same year. In spring of 1967 she met her future husband and love of her life, Bob Yarbrough. The two were married on her 19th birthday and eventually had two sons, Robert Wesley Yarbrough (8/18/69) and Donald Wade Yarbrough (2/2/72).
In addition to being a wife, mother, and homemaker, she also went to cosmetology school and worked as a manicurist for several years. She then got a job with Tomas Jewelry and eventually became a warehouse supervisor. She and Bob were both very active in the classic car community, Sharon herself serving as president of the Redwood Vintage Rods car club for a time. She was an avid bowler, having been awarded Women’s Bowler of the Year. She also enjoyed spending time at the local casino, collecting winnings in the bingo hall and slot machines.
Sharon passed away peacefully in her McKinleyville home on September 12, 2020 with her husband by her side. She is survived by her husband, Bob, and her two sons, Robert and Donald, sister Phyllis Price (Mike) of Weaverville, brother Jim Knight (Laurie) of Weaverville, and sister-in-law and close friend Virginia St. John of Willow Creek, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and uncles. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, James and Esther Knight, and uncles Bud Baker, Herman Baker, Harold Baker, aunts Eve Smith and Carol Brown.
Sharon was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt and will be missed dearly. She was a friend and helper to all who knew her. She had requested that no memorial services be held.
