On September 19, 2020, at about 2:54 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation on the 800 block of Highway 96 in Willow Creek.

Deputies contacted three individuals inside the vehicle. A passenger of the vehicle, 46-year-old Walter Louis Cosce Jr. of Hoopa, was found to be on active probation. Pursuant to the terms of probation, deputies searched Cosce Jr. and his belongings that were inside the vehicle. During the search, deputies located approximately 2.5 ounces of methamphetamine and approximately one pound of cannabis bud.

Cosce Jr. was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of possession of a controlled substance (HS 11378), possession of a controlled substance for sales (HS 11379(A)), possession of over 28.5 grams of marijuana (HS 11357(C)) and violation of probation (PC 1203.2(A)(2)).

The other two individuals were released at the scene.
