Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On September 23, 2020, at about 6:47 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 6400 block of Eggert Road in the Ridgewood neighborhood for the report of a domestic dispute occurring at the home.
Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect, 47-year-old Chong Yang Her of Sacramento, outside of the residence. Inside, deputies located a distraught 51-year-old female victim with moderate injuries to her upper body.
During their investigation, deputies learned that Her and the victim were married but currently separated. That evening, Her had reportedly driven to Eureka from Sacramento and forced entry into the Ridgewood home where the victim was staying. Her confronted the victim inside and began to physically remove the victim from the residence against her will. Her reportedly threatened to kill all occupants of the residence if they contacted law enforcement or intervened. The victim was able to break free from Her and shelter inside the residence until deputies arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Her was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of attempted kidnapping (PC 664/207(a)), inflicting corporal injury on a spouse (PC 273.5(a)), stalking (PC 646.9(a)), second degree burglary (PC 459/461(b)) and criminal threats (PC 422).
