Smoke form the Red Salmon Complex. | U.S. Forest Service

North Coast Unified Air Quality Management District press release:

Smoke impacts from the Red Salmon Complex are expected to reach Unhealthy conditions in Orleans and Weitchpec over the next 24 hours. This forecast is expected to remain in effect until September 7, 2020. Updates will be provided as conditions change.

Some valleys and basins near the Red Salmon Complex are already experiencing significant smoke impacts, and may see degrading air quality throughout the day. Light westerly winds are not expected to be strong enough to carry low level smoke away and widespread exposure to air quality in the Unhealthy to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups ranges are forecast in these areas.

Particulate Matter (PM2.5) monitors are located in Crescent City, Eureka, Weaverville, Hoopa, Weitchpec, Willow Creek, Klamath, Trinity Center, and Garberville. Updates will be provided as conditions change. For 24-hour Air Quality Advisory Information, call toll-free at 1-866-BURN-DAY (1-866-287-6329).
