UPDATE, 10:16 a.m.:

From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On April 21, 2021, at about 8:50 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 1800 block of Buhne Drive in King Salmon for the report of a possible stabbing with two injured juvenile victims.

While responding to the incident, deputies received information that a 29-year-old female was currently at a gas station on the 4100 block of Broadway Street in Eureka brandishing a knife. Officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to the gas station and detained the female. Upon further investigation, law enforcement learned that the female had been provided transportation by a motorist to the location from King Salmon. Based upon information obtained, the female was determined to be the suspect of the incident in King Salmon.

Meanwhile, at the residence in King Salmon, Sheriff’s deputies located two juvenile males, ages 11 and 7, with significant laceration injuries. The juveniles were transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment and are in unknown condition at this time. The juveniles have been confirmed to be related to the suspect.

This incident is still under active investigation and more information will be released when available.

Anyone with information about this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.

UPDATE, 10:05 a.m.: The suspect — a 29-year-old woman — has been officially taken in custody, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Samantha Karges.

Animal control has come to retrieve a dog associated with the trailer where the incident took place.

UPDATE/CORRECTION, 9:33 a.m.: Samantha Karges of the Sheriff’s Office tells the Outpost that the injured juvenile was injured in King Salmon, rather than at the Patriot Gas Station. We’ve updated our headline accordingly.

Karges says that there were two juvenile victims at the King Salmon location, which is inside the community’s RV park. Both have been transported to the hospital, Karges says, and there is no additional information about their condition at this time.

The Outpost’s Andrew Goff is in King Salmon. A neighbor tells him that she heard screams early this morning, looked out the door and saw two children receiving care. One was heavily bandaged around the head, and another had wounds to their back.

Police are swarming the Patriot Gas Station across from Pierson’s on Broadway after a juvenile was attacked with a knife, sustaining lacerations to their face and neck, according to scanner traffic.

A suspect has been detained. A second person — a woman — was reported injured at the same location, but it’s not clear whether that person was the suspect or an additional victim.

EPD spokesperson Brittany Powell says that the department received an additional call, at around the same time, from a person who gave a woman a ride to town from King Salmon. The caller told dispatchers that the woman brandished a knife while inside the car, and had bloody hands.

The Sheriff’s Office is responding to a location in King Salmon, according to scanner traffic, and initial reports indicate that there are victims at a location there.

We’ll update this post as we find out more.
