On April 25, 2021, at about 8:59 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol in the Hoopa area observed a reported stolen vehicle traveling on Pine Creek Road.
Deputies attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the driver of the vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued. Deputies pursued the vehicle for several miles, and eventually on to Bald Hills Road. California Highway Patrol Officers responded to assist with the pursuit, successfully deploying a spike strip and disabling the vehicle on Bald Hills Road near Lady Bird Johnson Grove. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot south into a heavily wooded area. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
The suspect is only described as a light skinned male with light facial hair, possibly wearing a purple shirt. Motorists in the area are asked to use caution and contact law enforcement if you see the suspect in the area.
This case is still under investigation.
