On Saturday January 16, Russell went into the arms of
Jesus, after a long and courageous battle with cancer he died
peacefully in his home with his family by his side.
Russell was born May 23, 1959 in Fortuna to Larry and Veltha Coleman. The oldest of 6 kids he did his best to look after them. He grew up in Blocksburg where he loved to hunt and fish.
Russell moved to Orleans in 1978 to log for Lonnie Johnson. In 1979 he met and married the love of his life Patricia. In 1991 Russell took his family and moved back to Blocksburg where Russell always considered home. There Russell and his father Larry built their home where they lived a life of love and happiness with their three children. He was very passionate about logging, most that knew him would say he was one of the best loggers around. He logged for Rob Bowen for awhile. Then, in 2003 his dream came true and he was able to start his own logging company with his brothers.
Russell is survived by his wife of 41 years Patricia Coleman, his mother Veltha Coleman, his children Russell Jr. (Megan), Misty (Kyle), Dakotah (Jessica). Grandchildren Marshall Gray, CJ Willburn, Hyram Willburn, Olivia Gray, James Coleman, Sara Coleman. Brothers Ricky (Kelly), Roger (Bonnie). Sisters Jackie (Glenn), Shanna, Sharon (Kevin) and many nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by his father Larry and sister Rebecca.
The family would like to thank Russell’s cancer team, Dr. Barkdull, Dr. Hardy, Dr. Harmon and Cindy Slater.
Family, logging and fishing was his life.
He was an amazing man and will forever be missed and never forgotten.
The family will hold a private graveside service, there will be a celebration of life for Russell at a later date.
