Eureka Woman Arrested For Mail Theft; Police Say Suspect Found With Mail, ID and Bank Cards From 34 Separate Victims
From the Eureka Police Department:
On February 11, 2021, at about 6:30 p.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department
responded to the 1000 block of California Street for the report of a female checking
mailboxes and stealing mail in the area. The reporting party was able to provide a
detailed description of the female and updated dispatch on her direction of travel.
An officer located the female near the 200 block of B Street and identified her as 40-
year-old Eureka resident, Susan Rau, aka Susan Allen. Rau was found to be in
possession of mail belonging to 27 victims and bank cards and identification cards
belonging to an additional 7 victims.
Rau was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for
theft of mail and probation violation. This is an ongoing investigation. The Eureka
Police Department would like to acknowledge the actions of the reporting party, for
recognizing the suspicious activity and providing such detail to our dispatchers.
