David Lowell Reece, Sr.,                    
Dec. 6, 1943 - Nov. 20, 2020

David was a Yurok Tribal Member. He was born on December 6, 1943 to Frank & Martha Reece in Hoopa. He passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2020 at his home in Eureka.

He was a talented artist. He made many wood carvings, such as walking canes, paddles, specialty cutting boards, elk horn purses and key chains. He made a few sculptures as well.

David was known to always have his grandson, Kenek, by his side. They would go everywhere together.

David is survived by his brother, Frank & Verna Reece, of Orleans; his sisters, Thelma & George McNeal of Grants Pass, and Arlene Brown of Arcata; his children & stepchildren, David Reece Jr. of Eureka, Bubba & Ashley Reece of Salem, Oregon, Lavonne & Josh Guido of Springfield, Oregon, Edward “Horse” & Nicol Aubrey of Smith River, Ethel Reed of Orleans, Carla, Hank, & Buck Aubrey of Arcata and his “adopted” son, Dan Ryles.

David is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Frank & Martha Reece, his sister Rose and his wife Sherrie Reece.

Papa, we love you and miss you!

Due to Covid the family was unable to have a funeral. A celebration of David’s life/burial will be held at a date yet to be determined.
