On July 17, 2021, at about 1:47 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol in the area of U.S. 101 and Central Avenue near McKinleyville observed a vehicle traveling with a suspended registration.
As deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle failed to yield and continued driving on U.S. 101, exiting at Murray Road. Deputies pursued the vehicle to Windy Road, where the driver eventually yielded.
The driver was identified as 52-year-old Henry Calvin Aubrey III. Aubrey was found to have a suspended license and to be on probation with a search clause. During a search of Aubrey incident to arrest, deputies located three concealed throwing knives and over 14 grams of methamphetamine.
Aubrey was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of carrying a concealed dirk or dagger (PC 21310), driving under the influence of alcohol (VC 23152(A)), attempt to evade a pursuing officer (VC 2800.1(b)), possession of a controlled substance (HS 11377(A)), violation of probation (PC 1203.2(a)(2)) and driving on a suspended license (VC 14601.2(A)).
