Patricia Dee Neely
August 16, 1941 - April 19, 2021

Patricia Dee Neely passed away on April 19, 2021 at 79 years old, in her home, surrounded by loved ones, knowing how loved and adored she was until her last breath. Patricia (Pat) was born on August 16, 1941 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the eldest of two children of Agnes and Charles Hammond. She met her late husband, Charles Chuck Neely, and had five children – Patty, Larry, Darlene, Michele and Danny Neely. She settled down in Fortuna, where she raised her children.

Pat was very work-oriented. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Ambrosini school for many years, then went on to work at Saint Luke’s care home as a manager for 26 years, then Pat worked at Bear River Casino until she could not. All the places she made lifelong friends. Pat had love and passion for many things. One, she loved her family deeply. When her children were growing up, her favorite thing was to take them swimming, and have picnics at the river. She was also a cub scout leader and involved in all school activities. She loved getting her hair done. Shopping, especially with her daughter Michele. Spending time with her friends. And she had a passion for reading. She also to take a trip of a life time to Europe with her friend Pauline.

She absolutely loved being a grandmother, great-grandmother and even a great-great-grandma. All referred to her as “Grams.” She raised her grandson Allen Neely, whom she loves so deeply. And shared a birthday in middle name with her granddaughter Gianna. She made an impact on all their lives, and a lot of their friends lives too. Pat made the world a better place and was just so beautiful inside and out. She used to say remarks like “everyone has to grow old, the trick is to grow old gracefully” – which she did and did so well. “Elegant” is how I would describe her. You will be loved and miss so much; you truly left her mark on this world.

Her survivors include daughters Darlene Neely, Michele and ED Gnadig, sons Danny Neely, Larry Neely, grandchildren Eric Neely, Patsy Yazzolino, Cassandra Yazzolino, Cory Bones, Curtis Bones, Catherine Axel, Christopher Bones, , Michele Neely, Marlena Neely, Marisa Neely,Bryce Neely, Jeremy Ward, Nichole Neely, Renee Neely. Her niece Lisa Hammond and nephews Greg and Sean Hammon and many great-grandkids and great-great grandkids.

Preceded in death by her parents Charles and Agnes Hammond, beloved brother Ralph Hammond and his son Mike Hammond, Charles Neely, her daughter Patricia Vizena, Grandson Allen Neely, Great grandson Owen Haslip, Granddaughter Crystal Wiley, the love of her life Richard Perlenfein, (Grandpa Dick).

There will be a graveside ceremony on May 22 at 10 a.m. at the Sunrise cemetery in Fortuna. A potluck will follow at Rohner Park in Fortuna. The family would like to thank Humboldt County Hospice and Cindy Steele for all the love and care they gave her.
