Dr. Wendy L. Woodward RN, PhD, 69, died after sunrise Sunday, October 3rd at home with her family present, after her battle fighting cancer. She was born in Bremerton, Washington and grew up in Ventura, and spending nearly all of her adult life in Humboldt County.

Wendy was a registered nurse and nursing faculty for Humboldt State University program from 1979 through her retirement as the chair of the Nursing program. She loved anything to do with being in the water, reading books, the beach, walks and hikes.

Wendy gave back to the community through her volunteer work at the dog shelter, Hospice of Humboldt and pulling ivy with the California State Parks.

She is survived by Susan Forbes, her domestic partner of over 35 years; sisters Sue Hanson and Gayle Carter; nieces Jaime Hannans, Kim Carr, Heidi Hanson, and nephew Ricky Hanson; cousins Candy, Ronnie, and Gary Lindstrom; and many good friends.
