Press release from the Fortuna Police Department:
On Friday, September 17th 2021, at approximately 7:00 A.M., the Fortuna Police Department took 35-year-old Miles Keola Neiva of Fortun, into custody and booked him at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
Between 2014 and 2021 Neiva is suspected of sexually assaulting a juvenile victim on multiple occasions. The Fortuna Police Department was made aware of the allegations and immediately began an investigation. Through the course of the investigation, investigators developed information and developed cause to arrest Neiva. Multiple Search Warrants have been served in order to locate additional evidence.
Neiva was booked in to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the following charges:
- California Penal Code section: 288.7(b) – Any person 18 years of age or older who engages in oral copulation or sexual penetration, as defined in Section 289, with a child who is 10 years of age or younger.
- California Penal Code section: 288(a) – Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a child who is under the age of 14 years, with the intent of arousing, appealing to, or gratifying the lust, passions, or sexual desires of that person or the child.
