Marlene went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2021 at the age of 81. She was born on October 23, 1939 in Fortuna at the home of Edwin and Marie Betts. She was a 1957 graduate of Fortuna High School.

She leaves behind her three children, Shawn (Kathy) Snell, Megan Coffman and Rory Snell.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband Michael Owen Snell, two grandchildren Joshua Snell and Jessica Callender, parents Edwin and Marie Brandt Betts and her brother Ronald Betts.

Marlene was well known for her gardening. Along with the family cemeteries and family gardens, she took care of the gardens in the town of Rio Dell for the past 10 years.

She had requested no service so the family held a private one. She is buried in the Oceanview Cemetery with her husband.
